Bring on the marching bands, drill teams, cheerleaders and football players too! It’s time to get one of Frisco’s favorite hometown events rolling. The 2008 Frisco Community Parade is set for Saturday, November 8 at 11 a.m.  “Salute the Troops” is once again the theme of the 2008 Community Parade.

Congressman Ralph Hall

Congressman Ralph Hall

Congressman Ralph Hall will be this year’s parade grand marshal. Congressman Hall represents the Texas’ 4th District. He joined the U.S. Navy on December 10, 1942, serving as a lieutenant (senior grade) aircraft carrier pilot from 1942 to 1945. Hall was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1980 and has been re-elected to each succeeding Congress. Congressman Hall was selected as Ranking Member of the Committee on Science and Technology for the 110th Congress.

The parade serves as an opportunity to honor U.S. military members, past and present, as a part of the Veteran’s Day weekend.  The parade is also a wonderful way to promote the ’small town’ feel so important to the image of our city. A big part of that tradition are the floats created by many of our student and citizen groups.

In addition to Frisco Independent School District groups, organizations such as the Frisco Garden Club and the Frisco VFW Post 8273 participate each year.  Spectators will also enjoy watching police and fire vehicles and antique cars rolling down the parade route, which begins at the southeast corner of Pizza Hut Park and travels eastbound down Main Street to North County Road.

The registration fees are $150 for non-profit and youth organizations and $200 for businesses and professional organizations. There are no fees for school groups. You will also be able to download a registration form to submit it in person to the Frisco ISD communication’s office, located at 6942 Maple St.
